The forthcoming European Union Regulation on Deforestation-Free products (EUDR) due to come into effect in 2026 will make quality control and traceability more important than ever before. Quality control has always been important to Junction 4 Pallets from both a compliance and a customer satisfaction perspective. J4 prides itself on consistent, quality products and smooth, pain-free delivery. Quality control is about more than just products and encompass all areas of business.
Quality control for J4 starts with customer requirements. Understanding exactly what a customer wants is critical to ensuring a positive experience when ordering pallets and that the product is fit for purpose. Each operation will be different and present a unique challenge at Junction 4 Pallets, so balancing the needs of a customer with the capability of our business is critical.
Consistency is an essential part of what we do. Checking and validating inbound pallets, controlling stock so timber stays in good condition, handling raw materials before a pallet is constructed, the right grade of timber, the right nails and the correct assembly processes are just a few factors that need to be considered to ensure consistency.
Whilst ensuring consistency is imperative, ensuring legislative compliance is just as important. Quality control allows us to stay aware and in front of global regulations on things such as ISPM15 heat treatment, sustainable, fairly sourced timber and waste reduction. We always make sure our forest-based materials are fully traceable, and we only purchase from Forestry Stewardship Commission (FSC) certified suppliers.
Our quality control process is also routinely assessed. We check our quality at every single level, bringing in all the different parts of a new customer’s journey – from signing up all the way through to delivering their orders. We hold daily meetings with our operations and production team to find and manage any issues that arise within our ordering and manufacturing processes.
